“Heart of Country”

“Heart of Country” celebrates the deep connections between people, culture, and the landscapes that have sustained Aboriginal communities for countless generations. At its centre is a gathering place. A symbol of family, knowledge sharing, ceremony, and belonging.

Flowing pathways weave throughout the artwork, representing the journeys we take across Country and through life. The surrounding waterholes remind us that water is life, connecting people, animals, and Country. Native plants and bush foods speak to the abundance of the land and the responsibilities we carry to care for it, while the smaller meeting places represent families, kinship groups, and the relationships that strengthen community.
