“Carried by Country”

"Carried by Country" reflects the way culture, spirit and connection are held and nurtured through generations. The flowing blue waterways represent life, healing and the movement between land, water and people, while the detailed green tones symbolises growth, renewal and the strength found in Country.

The coolamon within the artwork, Traditionally used to carry babies, food and gathered resources, it is a symbol of nurturing, protection and the strength of women and community. In this piece, the coolamon reflects the idea that we are all carried by Country guided, grounded and held through our connection to land, ancestors and spirit.

For me, this artwork is about belonging. It reflects the comfort of returning to the places, people and culture that continue to carry us through life.
